Ronald L. “Spike” Winder

1953 - 2019


Ronald L. “Spike” Winder, 65, of rural Milton passed away on Tuesday, March 26, 2019 at his home.

Born in Lewisburg on August 7, 1953, he was the son of the late Lenwood and Esther Leona (Auten) Winder.

Ronald was a 1971 graduate of Milton High School and had worked for American Home Foods and Rider Logistics retiring in 2018.  While there he served various terms as shop steward for UFCW local 38.

He was a member of the Milton Area Fire Companies beginning with the Turbot Township Fire Co, and the Fifth Ward Fire Co where he held various positions including Assist. Chief and Deputy Chief.  He was also involved with the Fireman’s Relief, the Fireman’s parade and Harvest Festival 10K Race.  He was also a member of the Sons of the American Legion in Watsontown where he served as Treasurer and Commander and as Commander and Vice Commander of the District 17 SAL.

Ronald is survived by three daughters and their spouses Michele and Billy Fischer of Milton, Stacie and Dan Strausser of Sunbury and Jennifer and Michael Koch of Milton; six grandchildren Briana Fraboni, Elena Fraboni, Emma Strausser, Nathan Strausser, Sara Koch and Trevor Koch; four sisters and two brothers in law Cathy and Mike Cupp of Milton, Tammy and Dave Speece of Lewisburg, Mary Aikey of Milton and Donna Winder of Milton; and several nieces and nephews especially Brenda Zimmerman of Milton who held a special place in his heart.  He will also be missed by his faithful Chihuahua Boots.

He was preceded in death by a brother Scott Winder and two sisters Nancy Marshall and Mary Fisher.

Friends and relatives will be received on Sunday, March 31, 2019 from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. at the Shaw Funeral Home 400 N. Front St. Milton.  Following Ronald’s wishes private services will be held at the convenience of the family.

The family wishes to thank all the doctors, nurses and caregivers who graciously and compassionately took care of him.

You have no idea how much I loved your dad. I will miss him dearly. He was an awesome person who took care of and cared for everyone. There are no words to convey how much I feel his loss.

We knew your father for years and his brother Scott. You Dad had a heart of gold would go out of the way to help someone, we always enjoyed having him at our underground pig roast, we will all miss him deeply and keep his love in our hearts. He's happy to get to see Scott again. What great memories you all have with your Father. Rest in peace my friend

Rest in peace my friend. You will be missed and remembered fondly by many.

Michele no words can say how your dad will be missed but the great memories are going through my mind already GOD BLESS YOU ALL
